History

L’AOC Touraine-Oisly Touraine-Oisly is a relatively young appellation, officially recognized in 2011 after a lengthy process. Its roots go back to 1905, when Fabel Barbou, a pioneering figure nicknamed "the father of Touraine Sauvignon," planted the first Sauvignon Blanc vines in Choussy, on an old vine he discovered by chance. Throughout the 20th century, thanks to the tenacity of the region's winemakers, particularly in the 1950s during the development of the Sologne wine region, and then in the 1970s and 80s with the gradual appreciation of Oisly white wines, the vineyard gained recognition. These efforts culminated in the official delimitation of the production area in 2022, reinforcing Touraine-Oisly's position among the major appellations of the Loire Valley.
