Château de la Bonnelière
Marc Plouzeau
On the Left Bank of Chinon, native land of François Rabelais, extends a wine landscape preserved for several centuries. Recognized as a great historical terroir at the birth of the Chinon appellation, he asks only to reveal his extraordinary potential and to discover his hidden treasures. On these still wild hills interspersed with wood, the vines look to the south and enjoy a very favorable micro climate.
Marc Plouzeau, pioneer in organic farming in Chinon
Thanks to the will of 2 generations, the Château de la Bonnelière has regained its nobility and its original vocation the vine and the wine. In 1976, Pierre Plouzeau bought this family property, renovated the Château and replanted the lost vineyard. In 1989, a modern cellar was born as well as a wine « Chinon Château de la Bonnelière ». His son, Marc, took over this vineyard in 1999, continued to develop it, passed it on to fully organic and perfects the cellar. Today, it is a must-see vineyard in Chinonais.
Our cellars under the fortress of Chinon are a major asset for optimal aging. Our single plots improve slowly in half-muids, at a constant temperature of 12 ° C and high humidity (80%).
